UGN Is Hiring! New Position to Support Get Connected Jefferson’s Online Volunteer Referral Website

GetConnected-SquareUnited Good Neighbors is seeking a talented individual for the part-time contract position of Volunteer Initiatives Coordinator (VIC). This position is responsible for providing key support in increasing volunteerism in Jefferson County through online recruitment and connection of individuals and groups to meaningful community involvement opportunities.  This position is a catalyst for ongoing innovation in the design and functionality of Get Connected Jefferson’s volunteer referral web site, and leads enhancement efforts that ensure the site is effective, responsive and using leading technological approaches.  The VIC provides excellent customer service and assistance to local nonprofit organizations recruiting volunteers and to individuals and organizations seeking ways to volunteer, and builds local capacity for volunteerism by assisting nonprofits with development and vetting of volunteer opportunities. The VIC provides project management for Day of Caring and local volunteer mobilization events. The successful candidate must:

  • Possess strong computer skills in internet research, comfort with social networking vehicles, and understanding of structural components of web site design, MS Word, Publisher, and Excel
  • Have knowledge and understanding of effective volunteer management practices
  • Possess strong project management, organizational and customer service skills
  • Possess an ability to analyze data and incorporate into recommendations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to identify key tasks and milestones within a project and follow-through on implementation
  • Possess strong understanding of community resources and nonprofit volunteer management practices and processes
  • Possess an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Have 2-4 years’ experience in community relations, project management (especially related to technology) and experience coordinating a volunteer engagement with a community organization or equivalent education and/or experience.
